2022 SPRING SUMMER TRENDS: 5 WEARABLE STYLES

The long a waited New York and Paris fashion week has come and gone and fashion designer’s have spoken. Post lockdown runways are announcing “it’s time to dress up and show out”. The message from designers for spring is bright colors, playful textures, new silhouettes and statement-making accessories. It’s never too early to start adding spring must-haves to your cart.

The key is adding in a few thoughtful pieces to update an existing wardrobe. Here, we will highlight 5 easy wearable trends to freshen up your collection.

  1. Vacation Mode

In F/W 21 shows ski-inspired fashion dominated, this season with a similar mindset designer’s S/S 22 runways were infused with vibrant vacation-ready prints, airy dresses, crochet tops and matching sets. Chloe’s, Tory Burch’s and Ulla Johnson’s collections were filled with vacation ready everyday pieces.

2. back in time- y2k

Love it, hate it. Nostalgia ruled the scene. Reminiscent of times gone by, Chanel’s collection, despite taking place in S/S 22, could have easily been held in the 1990s, displaying belly chains, miniskirts, suits, and bra tops.

Balmain celebrated it’s 10th anniversary by opting for midriff-baring tops and low-rise bottoms. Blumarine presented butterfly motifs and sparkly panties, serving a strong sense of déjà vu.

3. Max Modern

In many SS 2022 collections, it was clear that soft silhouettes of the early pandemic are making way for more structure and shape. Seen on the runway at Loewe, Alexander McQueen and Tory Burch, the continual theme was the presence of boned corsetry, and elegant structure to enhance the silhouette.

Jil Sander, Fendi and Valentino all paraded elements of oversized gender neutral suits, enormous padded blazers and classics with a twist.

4. Highlighter colors

The reign of calm, neutral colors will come to an end. Designer’s collections were adorned with bright, bold, and of colors that are guaranteed to add some much-needed flavor into our forthcoming wardrobe.

With some of the big fashion houses Versace, Prada, Proenza Schouler and Tom Ford sending supermodels down the runway in hues of pink, purple, blue and yellow.

5. XXL Bags

Say “goodbye'“ for now to tiny bags and hello ultra big bags for spring. From fringe to sleek leather work bags, labels like Tory Burch, Miu Miu and Chanel all took standard size bags to a new level. These carry-alls can also double as a stylish carry-on travel bag that’ll hold at least a few days’ worth of essentials, in case your luggage gets lost.
